The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Bunny injured herself jumping.

Hi. I was just wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this before

This morning at 7.30am my bunny Belle was having zoomies and she was leaping up onto the bed (which isn’t very high) but at 7.30 she seemed to jump and hurt herself. Suddenly front leg tucked in and she was dragging herself unable to move much.

Immediately rushed to vet for painkillers. In vet she was using back legs but the front leg was still almost tucked into her. We took her home but immediately she was wobbly and disoriented. So we took her back in. She’s has stronger medication and she’s since had an xray which shows there’s no fractures or broken bones on her legs etc. vet says she’s still abit wobbly but is now chilled after having meds in her.

We are going to get an evening update on how she’s doing. naturally we are sat worried wondering what could it be that she jumped wrong that’s made her not put much weight on leg and if anyone’s had this before.

Sorry to hear you bunny has hurt herself. Thats good she hasnt broken anything and she has some pain killers, to help. Can she put weight on it? Did the vet have abything suggestions? Is your bun eating and drinking?

My bunny hurt his leg sprinting down the stairs a few years ago. He hadnt broken it, and the vet thought perhaps it was a sprain or strain. It took about a week but he gradually got better and was fine after that. He also held his front leg under him, but i must admit he wasnt wobbly he just kept his weight off it, whilst it healed.

She’s attempted to put weight on it. But lost her balance and doesn’t want to use it at all so has been sitting still within the vets was the latest update. She’s had abit help with critical care, but vet said she isn’t any worse or better so better to keep her in.

I’m hoping 24hrs overnight will see a big improvement tomorrow fingers crossed. Not sure if she has pulled something when trying to jump on bed when she fell and if that’s best case scenario

Glad to hear they can heal over time fingers crossed it’s the similar situation

Ah she is still at the vets, i am sure she will feel better in the morning. Sending healing vibes from here that she will be happily munching hay and ready to come home.

lots of well wishes. She is in safe hands. Ligament damage, sprain etc are painful too though its good news nothing is broken
