advice with dealing with loss
my bunny passed today and i really cant cope. he is my only bunny and he is my everything. all day everyday we were always together. i am really emotionally attached to him. i had a lot of anxiety even if i left him for a few hours and everytime i was away the only thing i would look foward to was coming back to him.
to keep it short he had issues with his teeth for a while. we went to the went for checks up, for xray and more multiple times a month. there was a recurring issue that didn't go away with any treatment or antibiotics. so they decided that the best chance and way to go is to remove one of his front teeth. he was not a sickly rabbit though he was always up and playing and flopping and hooking. he was really resilient and hes been through a lot more than any bunny should go. but he was still happy and cheerful. he would have been 7 years old next month and he is a holland lop.
we go, we do blood test and every precaution before this they promise us everything is going to be okay. and then a few hours later they call us to tell us that up until the end everything was fine and then his heart just gave up. that they tried everything and they got no response.
i really can not deal with it and i feel like i failed him so bad. i dont know how to not blame myself. i feel the worst ive ever felt in my life. i really did not want to leave him and i did not kiss him before leaving the vet before his surgery and my heart is so heavy with regret. how is possible that in the morning we were playing and now hes not here anymore. i can barely stand being in my room. i just keep imaginig how it was for him and i feel like throwing up. i dont have anyone to talk to and i dont know how to calm myself down. what can i do and what is there to do now i really need some advice on how to manage this i keep self inducing panic attacks because it keeps hitting me. i just wish i could get some reassurance that he is okay and more at ease now but my brain selfishly thinks he would have been better here with me still
