Best diet for megacolon rabbit in order to live the best life they can have?

Hello,
My rabbit is almost three years old, she was diagnosed with megacolon at 1 years old.
She's currently on cisapride, and the vet is suggesting Reglan and Chinese traditional medicine. I've been reading negative reviews on Reglan so I'm a bit skeptical on whether to add that to her medication list.

I digress, my rabbit has been having issues with diarrhea related to her megacolon. She's still very much like herself regardless, hence I haven't taken her to the vet. I took her to the ER once, but they sent me home cause she was eating her hay. lol I know what signs to look for now.

So her current diet consists of timothy hay and science selective house pellets. I would also give her sherwood digestive tablets as well. I had to cut out cilantro(the veggie she could tolerate, but not anymore it seems?) Unfortunately, I thought cutting cilantro would help with her situation, but it didn't. The vet wanted her to be on cilantro, but i needed to cut it out because she gets bloated. I'm currently debating whether to add it back in for hydration. But she drinks just fine, in fact she's drinking more water now. If anyone has any tips on megacolon diet, please help me. Thank you. I can't lose my bun to megacolon, she's literally the one thing keeping me happy amongst the things I'm dealing with.

A diet for a Megacolon Rabbit is a case of trial and error. There is no hard a fast rule as all cases seem to respond differently. In the 3 cases I have dealt with none of the Rabbits had any pelleted feed at all. They had a variety of hays, dried forages and a moderate amount of fresh herbs.

I live in an urban area so obtaining a wide variety of fresh forage isn’t possible. But if you can I highly recommend introducing fresh forages to your Rabbit’s diet. Rabbits seem to instinctively know what forages to go for to support their gut function.

Two out of the three Rabbits liked weak peppermint tea. Not only did this help with hydration it also seemed to help gut function overall.
