B&M hay

B&M is just like a big cheap supermarket - bit like Home Bargains if you've heard of that! :)
I think Home Bargains is the Northern version of B&M Bargains: saw my first B&M in Braintree (Essex) and my first Home Bargains in Burnley (Lancashire). But then we didn't have Wilkos down South for AGES! In Nottingham we've got both, so I reckon it's a north-south thing as it's Midlands XD

There's no B&M in Braintree. :? According to the website, there is one in Colchester.

I had never heard of B&M before and i'm from down South-ish (Surrey and Buckinghamshire). Just looked on their website and their hay is incredibly cheap. Their meadow hay is £0.99 a kilo. I am trying to decide what hay to get for Winston. I was going to buy the sample pack from Hay for Pets but as their prices have just gone up it's awfully tempting to buy the Meadow hay from B&M. Is there a vast difference in quality between the different hays and does more expensive = better quality hay. If your rabbit is happy with the cheap hay is it worth buying more expensive hay because 'it's better for them'?

Ah - now I've heard of Home Bargains!..we have one in nearest town...

I'm in manchester but at uni in nottingham - our B&M in manchester is new but I've seen them down south before so think they must be new to the north :)

I get the Timothy hay stuff - it looks really yellowy and has some marigold in it but oh my god... I have never seen poos like it! They are GIANT and bright bright gold! Really sad but I am so proud of his poos!! :)

Fortunately 4 me bb also has cheap taste. He turns his nose up at the expensive stuff when I have got it before. He can't get enough of the stuff out of b&m's though. He tends to eat very few pellets since I "discovered" it. He also loves really cheap meadow hay that's like 2 quid for a bin bag full from the local farm shop. I sometimes feel as if he lives on the fag ends of the animal grass feed industry. On a side note the 1st b&m I ever encountered was in Blackpool so I always assumed they were a northern thing and quite a recent addition to the south

I honestly can't stress how impressed I have been with this hay. Ted has never eaten so much, not even top notch stuff! His poops are amazing, if you can refer to poop like such. I just hope that they don't stop stocking it any time soon. It seems that the search is over!

The piggies and Degus agree too.

I didn't even know b&m sold hay! This is good to know as I ran out of a farm bale and won't be able to go to the farm shop until later today so I had to get pets at home hay the other day and that is expensive and I don't think its all the great.

After seeing this thread I bought some for the Piggies. only £1.99 for a bag and they love it!

I just bought a bag of the Glenwood meadow hay from B&M too - the bunnies love it! It's not dusty at all, the hay is quite soft but it is soo cheap! I can't really store a whole farm bale in my flat so I normally buy the bags of hay from the horse feed shops. Think I will be buying the B&M stuff now (as long as it's not dusty) as they take up no room at all! I highly recommend trying it, I bought a bag of Burgess in my hay emergency (£4 a kg??) it was so dusty and the buns have turned their noses up at it.

Really glad this has been useful for other people too! :) Ferg still can't get enough of B&M hay - never had a bag he didn't like! :)

I buy this for Poppy and she loves it. She also seems to have cheap tastes (she loved the home bargains meadow hay at 99p) but this looks so much nicer for her.
I stocked upon it and bought 3 bales when i went past (its about an hour walk away from me).
If she gets a bit bored i mix in some dried herbs and pellets so she has to forage for them.
She also transfers the bits of hay she doesn't want to eat to her bed and makes a nest with it, so it's two birds with one stone, i don't buy bedding anymore for her!
Im going to buy the hay taster pack from The Hay Experts next month though for her to try and she has a few samples coming from this seller on ebay too... http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/Small-Ani...s=1&_ipg=&_from=&_ssn=furryfriendspetsupplies

Thanks so much for posting this, I've been to B&M this morning (didn't know it existed before) and my buns are going absolutely mad for the hay. I got one of each to try but will be going back for more later this week. It's a third of the price of Burgess for healthy bunny heaven!

Really glad yours like it too - definitely saves a bit of money! Really glad Fergie decided this one was better than burgess or oxbow
