All my rabbits over the years. Bonding Snowflake and Moondust. Page 9 for latest bonding.

My lovely new rescue hamster arrived today. Welcome Cindy. She is a friendly inquisitive little thing and spent ages exploring her cage once I had taken her carefully out of her carrier. Her foster mum brought her over to me which was lovely of her.

She is from Bristol rabbit rescue, who were very thorough with their home checks. Moondust is on their list for a friend and on the list of a rescue called Littlest lives.

Both rescues had great criteria for any animal adopted from them.

Cindy is already used to hands and will take food from her foster mum. Can't wait to start taming her once she has had a few days to properly settle. I asked for a house or any other furniture to be brought from her old set up to help her settle. I donated similar things back to the rescue.

It was good to deal with a quality animal friendly place and it was really nice to meet Cindy's foster carer.

Moondust looks very cuddly with her winter coat. My indoor lionhead, Zorro, grew a very thick winter coat this year and I wonder why he thinks he needs it.

I hope you can find a suitable friend for your girl.

Did your cute piggy grow or add a little extra weight for winter? Their friend is very well hidden under the hay😄

Welcome Cindy hamster! She is a pretty color and I hope she will acclimate quickly. It is nice she is hand tame.

Both guinea pigs have put on plenty of weight since they came to me. They were quite slender when they arrived. I think they just adore eating so on the weight goes. All guinea pigs seem to fill out as they mature, regardless of the season.

Cindy came onto my hand! She got up for a drink of water this morning and naturally I went over to her and started chatting. She came towards me so I took a chance and put my hand, loaded with food which included mealworms into the cage.

She hopped on and started eating away. Had a little sniff of my hand and carried on eating!

Cindy seems to be very tame for a hamster. I am surprised she was eating from your hand so soon after arriving. Did she stuff any in her pouch before hopping off?

She had been in a foster home before coming to me and they had hand tamed her. I didn't notice her stuffing her pouches whilst she was on my hand. She headed off towards her food bowls and did pouch some food then.

They are omnivores and like to eat dried insects as well apparently. They also like tofu and a bit of egg. They do eat a lot of seeds.

It looks like Moondust will be getting a friend! He comes via a local rescue and will come to us straight from his current home. His person is bringing him to me next Saturday (lucky 13th)!

He is five years old. I will let them live side by side for a while before trying to bond them. So exciting and a little nerve wracking in a way. I enjoy bonding rabbits but it is also a bit stressful ...

Gosh that's exciting! Moondust has been a very patient bunny. That's very good that he will be brought to you. It means also that his previous owner can see where he's going and meet Moondust. Sounds perfect.

Fingers crossed that it all works out very well for both bunnies.
