Just an update, Barnaby had his op on Friday 18th to remove his eye. I paid the bill myself and the vets put the claim into PetPlan direct. Checked yesterday, 22nd September and my claim was processed and approved the day before. I've had to pay £100 excess plus 20% but have had £164 paid...
Another vote for PetPlan. Haven't had to claim in 5 years, but am now in the process of making a claim after Barnaby had to have his eye removed. I may feel differently if they don't pay out!! ;)
I had looked at the hay4pets site as I'd read some threads on here recommending their hay, but I needed more coneflower so opted for Hay Experts.
I'm definitely going to experiment with a few different hays so hay4pets is next!!
Glad to hear the readigrass helps Fiver's teeth. It's such a...
Yep, fingers crossed. I've just had a delivery from The Hay Experts of Readigrass and willow chews so I'm hoping a little of the readigrass a day will also wear down his teethies, along with all the others hays and twigs I'm experimenting with :lol:
As much as I hate going in P@H, I did...
Thank you
Well, Barnaby had his pre-op check and the vet has said that she is happy NOT to operate because his teeth are not that bad and can be managed with plenty of hay  This was a different, more rabbit-savvy vet that I saw last Monday.
His upper rear teeth cannot be burred down...
Thank you Vegan_Bunny and one of the family!
I'm hoping (stupidly) that when he's examined tomorrow the vet will say his teeth have improved and he can come home with me and doesn't need the op. I'm absolutely dreading it, and have planned many activities to keep me busy (washing the car...
I'm going to check with the vet on Wednesday, but had more or less decided to give them a 28 day panacur dose.
Barnaby's balance problems seem to have disappeared. He's pretty much back to normal apart from only taking one bite of a fenugreek crunchie instead of wolfing it down!! He's...
I did question the vet about his suitability for the GA. He said he was no more concerned than he would be for any other rabbit and that, apart from his teeth, he was in good health.
I've just been out to him and he's been jumping onto his box which is knee height (I'm 5ft 2), and was...
Besides EC, ear infection, possibly stroke, what else could cause a balance issue? Would teeth??
Barnaby went quiet 2 weeks ago this coming Tuesday but was still eating (although not pellets), drinking and pooping, although they were small and dark. By Friday he was back to his normal bouncy...
So sorry for your loss. You mustn't feel guilty, you clearly did everything you could.
I cannot offer any advice as to why this happened or what was wrong with Thumper.
Binky-free Thumper xx
So pleased she's still with us, she's just a beautiful bunny and deserves happiness (which she's clearly found with you and your family).
Vibes for fast acting meds xxxx
Will be thinking of you and Starfish today. xx
I think, when our loved ones are poorly, we hope for a miracle and look for the tiniest glimmer of them getting better.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I always loved looking at Locksley because he reminded me of Tinker who I lost last year. It's just brought it all back again and I'm shocked and sobbing my heart out for you.
