    Metacam

Thank you. Yes, I think I'll talk to the vet as the Arthrocam has 10 times as much sodium benzoate. I just don't think that rabbits should be fed salt, though I accept it has some anti-inflammatory properties I think I have that covered with the herbal medication she's on.

    Metacam

Millie is 11 years and 4 months old. She's being treated for arthritis with metacam, having repeat prescriptions of Meloxicam (1.5mg/ml oral suspension for dogs). However, I've just discovered that this time she's been Arthrocam, 1.5mg/ml of metacam as before but this time with added 5mg/ml of...

Heidi cancer update March 15 2024

I'm so sorry to hear this. Heidi was so loved and well-cared for, I'm sure you couldn't have done more for her. Gentle hugs from me too. xx

Millie: Lump of fur on her back / Arthritis treatment

Apologies for belated reply. I'm glad you found the list helpful. I agree that the Germans are more advanced in vet herbalism, they're also more advanced in human herbalism, I guess the two go together.

Millie: Lump of fur on her back / Arthritis treatment

The herbs she's having in her water are ashwaganda, devil's claw, prickly ash and milk thistle. The first three are anti-inflammatories (I actually take devil's claw myself for joint pain) and the milk thistle is largely to support her liver with dealing with the metacam. All are tinctures and...

Millie: Lump of fur on her back / Arthritis treatment

Update: I started Millie on the herbal medicine a few weeks ago and I'm pleased to say she's become a more active bunny again. I've been trying to watch her hop to see if she's using the rear of her spine more but the truth is that she's zooming around so fast now it's hard to process! I was...

    Adrenal gland hyperplasia

Sorry I hadn't seen this but recently wrote about agnus castus on a different thread - https://forums.rabbitrehome.org.uk/index.php?threads/neutered-rabbit-humping-constantly.489379/#post-7361263 When I get a minute I'll have another hunt around for the dose I used - having a hectic week.

    Neutered rabbit humping constantly

I had an excessive humper who was driving his companion to exhaustion. He was neutered too. The problem was solved when I talked to a herbalist vet who recommended agnus castus. I've been scrambling around trying to find the dose I used and I haven't yet been able to but it was a very small...

Millie: Lump of fur on her back / Arthritis treatment

Thank you bunny momma. The herbalist vet was lovely, very gentle with her and knowledgable about rabbits. She watched Millie move about the pen as we were discussing her medical history and said from the way she hopped, she it looked like her lower spine was less mobile than it should be and...

Millie: Lump of fur on her back / Arthritis treatment

Oh, you can actually buy cold lazers for pets to use at home.

Millie: Lump of fur on her back / Arthritis treatment

Thank you all. She's on 0.7ml metacam twice a day which I was told is the max for her size, she's 1.9kg roughly, so that's a bit more than 0.7ml per Kg. She started on 0.4ml x 2. I think I'll see what happens with the herbalist and then try the exotic vet if I still have concerns. She hates...

Millie: Lump of fur on her back / Arthritis treatment

Not serious at all! Am very relieved. This is going to sound silly but it was a lump of fur. She has short thick fur and I've never groomed her because she's always kept it so immaculate (unlike Archie who looked like a toy with the stuffing coming out without a daily going over). But now...

Millie: Lump of fur on her back / Arthritis treatment

Thank you both. No injections or vaccinations lately. We lost her bunny friend nearly two months ago but she seemed to adapt well, has latched herself onto me instead. I have an appointment for her at the hospital at 10.15. Just going to hope for the best. 🤞

Sudden behaviour change - any thoughts?

Are there any windows at his level? Sometimes they are freaked out by their own reflections in the glass before you've drawn the curtains. But yes, otherwise it sounds like he senses a predator, they do have amazing hearing.

Millie: Lump of fur on her back / Arthritis treatment

Millie has a large lump at the top of her back above her spine. I'm pretty sure it wasn't there yesterday, it's grown really fast. I will check her out again in the morning but I think she needs a vet visit (terrible timing as I was due to move a load of stuff from house to house tomorrow, I...

Raven needs vibes, falling, circling update March 11

Bunny momma, I'm new to this thread. So sorry to hear Raven is struggling and glad he is in good hands. Will keep you both in my thoughts.

Older mini lop going off food - probable lymphoma

Thank you Omi, and joey&boo. Millie was in two minds last night, she wanted to be near me but on the other hand I'm the person who's taken her to the vet three times this week and she's always been a shy one. She opted to be near but out of sight, quietly moving around the room after me and...

Thank you, bunny momma. Yes, I think Millie knew and I feel comforted by your comments.
