    Poorly rabbit, any ideas?

The vet couldn't find anything wrong with her but was surprised how old she was. Her teeth look OK. She's given her a gut stimulant and 5 days course of baytril. I've popped her back outside with loads of straw and covered up the hutch. She was eating some dried dandelion. Wish I could keep her...

rabbit jaw absess through to the bone

I had a rabbit with a jaw abscess. He was treated with depocillin injections every 3 days and baytril and metacam. We also had to clean out the abscess daily and remove the puss. He lived for 6 months with the abscess coming and going but in the end it was too much for him and he collapsed and...

    Poorly rabbit, any ideas?

It could be, it certainly smells very strong. It's not like her not to eat so very likely it could be dental. She does eat a lot of hay normally.

    Poorly rabbit, any ideas?

Amber is not very well. She is off her food although eating small amounts just not ravenous like she normally is. She has done some watery and very smelly poo. We're off to the vets at 2.30pm but wondered if anyone had an idea what it might be? I've had her for 6.5 years and was told she was a...

    freezing temps

If it were me I'd have to have the rabbit inside! I'd keep the dog downstairs and have the rabbit in an indoor cage upstairs but I guess it depends on the size of your house and what space you have available. We had to bring our single bunny indoors as we couldn't face seeing him sat outside in...

    Hot topics?

agreed. By moving it to Hot topics it just killed the thread as most people didn't know where it had gone or probably thought it had been deleted. It's very hard to carry on a thread when what you have written has to be approved first. I'm not sure we need to have threads locked at all to be...

    Vegan baby

I know it's scary when they seem to gag or bring food back up but don't let that put you off giving him more solid food to eat. He should be able to manage a banana now without needing it mashed up. I was giving Charlie sandwiches and toast at 7 months and he was having rice cakes and biscuits...

    Vegan baby

Let's not forget we are talking about a 9 month old baby and not a young child so nutritional needs are going to be different. I'm sure when he is 18-24 months old a vegan diet will be fine for him. As he is having Aptimil foruma already which is non vegan then I don't see what difference it...

    Vegan baby

That's just one doctors opinion and there are many who will agree and disagree with him. The use of the phrases of "evidence suggests" and "may be the case" means that they do not know if what they are saying is actually true. I don't think this was meant to be a debate about veganism (yet...

    Vegan baby

Are you talking about red meat and processed meat though? I don't think organic chicken or fish would cause long term health issues. Personally I have no problem with vegetarian diet for babies but I do think they need eggs and diary as part of a healthy diet. It's not possible to tell a small...

    Vegan baby

I wouldn't feed a child a vegan diet myself. I don't see any harm in giving him eggs from a local farm where you can see how the chickens are kept and I'd also let him have organic cheese and yoghurts. I'm sure he will be ok on a vegan diet providing he eats plenty of veg, fruit, pulses etc...

Persistent Eye problem - please help!

Which vets are you using now? My friends rabbit had an abscess in it's eye and had it removed at Cockburns vets in Coalville. They are expensive though but most vets are. I paid out about £600 altogether on treatment for my rabbit who had a jaw abscess :( I've decided not to have anymore pets...
