How to deal with a newly single bun

Thanks Jane, I might have a think about that once we've had some time with just Lilac to see how she adapts. Last time she was bereaved she definitely didn't cope well but she was much younger then. She also wasn't the easiest to bond when we got Rupert and am mindful of her age when considering...

How to deal with a newly single bun

She's a little quieter than usual but other than that seems OK, she is sitting in some of Rupert's spots so I'm sure she knows what happened. Just trying to keep her busy which she doesn't appreciate!

How to deal with a newly single bun

Oooh yes I do have some stacking cups so I'll use them. I'm just lying on the floor next to her atm, she's not fussed but I'm hoping she'll think of me as more of a friend the more I do it. Thinking of switching up her feeding routine so that she gets more small bits throughout the day that she...

How to deal with a newly single bun

After losing Rupert yesterday Lilac is now on her own. She has always been a bun's bun and preferred the company of her own kind, she is 9 now so I am leaning towards not getting a companion for her at this stage. I wanted some tips on what people do when they have a solo bun to provide...

Rupert seems to have something stuck in his nose

Thanks all, he went peacefully and I am glad we chose to do it this way. Lilac got to have a cuddle with him, as soon as he passed she lay down by his side ❤️

Rupert seems to have something stuck in his nose

Thank you. In a way it's "nice" to have the space to be able to think and not have to make the decision then and there. It's always a sad decision and none of us want to make it but it's best for him at this current point. He's never been 100% since having his eye out earlier in the year, with...

Rupert seems to have something stuck in his nose

We've made the decision to let him go. Apparently he is more stable sitting in his oxygen tent but we don't feel that taking him to a specialist will be worthwhile as we don't want to put him through too much treatment. Will be taking Lilac down to see him later on to say goodbye. At least this...

Rupert seems to have something stuck in his nose

He's stable but still in the oxygen tent, although they did manage to get him out for an xray which didn't show anything. The problem I have in my head is that we go in a cycle of having an episode, recovering then having another one, and the episodes seem to be getting worse. He's not stable...

Rupert seems to have something stuck in his nose

Thank you Jane. The more I think about it the more I think perhaps the time is right to let him go on his terms but I will see whether the x-ray shows anything before deciding.

Rupert seems to have something stuck in his nose

Just had an update from the vet, he is a little better. They talked about taking him to a specialist but unfortunately I can't get him there as have to go into work and my partner is at work as well. I asked if they could try a conscious x-ray to see if there is anything obvious showing, not...

Rupert seems to have something stuck in his nose

Unfortunately I've had to rush Rupert back to the vet this morning, he was eating some forage and starting choking really badly. Same symptoms as before, lots of saliva out of his nose and mouth and his breathing was heavy. He started struggling to breathe through his mouth so I have rushed him...

Rupert seems to have something stuck in his nose

Hopefully a final update on this, Rupert had another checkup at the vet yesterday. The vet can't hear any more noise on his chest, so they're happy that he's on the mend. With the teeth side of things, it's a waiting game to see if the problem returns as with so many dental buns. He's still not...
