    B&M hay

we buy the meadow hay too, but I've noticed it's quite dusty/not dust extracted. Bun loves it tho...

    Lino for flooring

I've used lino in our hutch - I cut it slightly larger round the back so that I could let it fold up slightly. So instead of it fitting the floor exactly, it curls up the back and side edges - maybe an inch or so. Stops wee soaking down. I've not glued it down tho, our bunnies don't seem...

    chicken wire

just a quickie - why does everyone think chicken wire isn't strong enough for a rabbit run? It's used on chicken runs to keep foxes out. But if it's not strong enough to keep foxes out, why do people still buy it for their chickens? :?:

    change hay = BIG poops

hi, just after a bit of advice/re-assurance really. We've been feeding our two minilops hay from P@H; their own brand Timothy Hay plus some barn dried forage (from Burges? can't remember now). We've also had hay from our local B&M Bargains - £3.49 for about 3.5 kilos. All of it has been fine -...

    Keeping warm over winter

deffo get the snugglesafe. We have ours under their hay - every morning we can see where they've dug the hay out to lay on top of the snugglesafe. Like a little tunnel they've slept in. Bet they're toasty & warm all night!

    Teds wife has arrived

We bonded ours by having them in hutches & runs next to each other for a month, just like you are. On the first day next to each other, Munch went nuts for half an hour, thumping his feet & running round a bit, then after a couple of hours they started to sniff and kiss a bit through the mesh...

    Wet underneath tarp?

are you sure it's water getting in and not condensation because the hutch is warm from the buns but it's cold outside? We've noticed the windows in our garage get condensation on the inside now the buns are in there.

    Bluebell Hideaway P@H Advice

forgot to add - we lined each floor with lino (begged offcuts from local carpet shop) to help protect the wood.

    Bluebell Hideaway P@H Advice

we got one for our mini lop & think it's spot on. Yes, the latches are a little mis-aligned, but they do go in (a bit stiff) - do what evryone on this forum recommends and add some more (we did). No, the floor isn't very thick, but it takes my weight when I reach in to clean, so a rabbit's...

    new bunny coming this Saturday...

oh, that's put a spanner in the works - I thought because they're from the same breeder, the risk of any illnesses passing across would be slim? - Munch has been vaccinated anyway and we'll get the new one done asap. And the neutering then bonding thing - I thought it'd be OK to have them next...

    lumps/bumps on skin????????

no help to you I know, but I noticed a similar little lump on our bun a few weeks ago, near one of his back legs. About the size of a tiny tiny pea. Then a few days later I noticed it had gone. It caused him no pain when I touched it either...like I said, no help whatsoever, but you're not alone...

    new bunny coming this Saturday...

hi, we have a recently neutered male who (although we've not told him yet) is going to meet his new lady friend this Saturday. We have his hutch and run in the garage, with another smaller hutch and run at the side, set up ready for the new arrival. Both are mini lops from the same local hobby...

How to make rabbit runs fun / furniture

we bought some storage boxes from places like B&M bargains, couple of quid each - turned them upside down & the bun hops up on them all the time. Have cut an opening out of one so he can hide in it too. Also those little steps kiddies have to reach the toilet - one of those works great as a...

    Munch got the snip today....

yes, we were given Metacam and some syringes. Thought we'd be in for a fight, but he willingly took the meds this morning, licking the syringe as I gently emptied it. Nearly back to his old self too - happily munching his hay and pellets. He's a fantastic bun - loves a fuss, never been...

just read your post again - I thought the tarp was all you covered them with! sorry....

how much hay? and do i close coop for the night?

would a fox chew through a tarp? Of course they would - I imagine chicken wire wouldn't exist if a tarp would be enough to keep foxes at bay.....

    Munch got the snip today....

all went well, we dropped him at the vets this morning, they rang us mid afternoon to say it went fine and that he'd not stopped eating. Think it's catching up on him now though, he's been quite placid - he's had the odd pellet but mostly not too bothered - until we waved a bit of carrot under...

Setting up rabbit run as indoor home for winter-advice please!

I've just moved our bun into the garage, with the run and hutch. He's got access to the hutch 24/7, but spends most time in the run. We put a large piece of carboard (the box the hutch came in) under an old rug/piece of carpet. It keeps the cold off - we sit in the run and can't feel the cold...
