Don't know if you're using an underbed storage box as a litter tray but you could try mixing the pellets through the hay in it.

Sounds like you might have room for a deep underbed storage box which could be used as a litter tray. Depending on whether you have room a Runaround tube or similar instead of a ramp may work. Takes a bit of diy to get it in place and make it stay but works well.
