    Does just been neutered

Thanks - I will see if we can give them more room and change the bottles for bowls. I read that does take a bit longer to come round. They can move around and they are sleeping on a blanket but I have an idea to let them have more space. I will be keeping a close eye on them during the night...

    Does just been neutered

Our two little gals, Lilly-Rose and Tilly - both Dutch buns, 9 months old, have been to the vets today for their operations.:( The are now home and in the house as it is too cold to put them outside. So far they are very quiet and have not eaten but I have put some pellets, hay and a little...

    Fur missing and gunting noises

Has the vet confirmed they are both girls? Yes confirmed both girls. The vet commented that she might be hormonal so I just hope she is right and after the spay she will calm down and the fur will return.

Seperating a bonded pair for spay operation

Hope the operationshas gone well. My two gals are being spayed on Friday and I am worried that they might not get on well afterwards. The vet recommended they both are done together which makes sense but there are so many stories of happy(ish) buns just not behaving well that I just hope we...

    Backwards litter training

Our buns have also just started strange activities with their litter trays. All was fine until about 3 weeks ago when wee appeared in various corners of the hutch. This has been followed by digging out the contents of their litter trays. All I can assume is that hormones have gone out of...

    Fur missing and gunting noises

The buns are 9 months old - I haven't seen them humping but Tilly (the one with the fur missing) is quite excited and goes running up and down when I go to feed them. Both buns have access to a run, lots of hay and are very well. The areas where the fur is missing looks ok - no sign of scabs...

One of our does has started to make grunting noises and has fur missing from her back - about 1/2 way back from her head. Her sister is fine and much quieter. They don't seem to be falling out. We are having both speyed on Friday and hope this will sort things out. Anyone had similar and...

    Eye trouble and poorly bun

Good news - Lilly-Rose is much better today - eating normally and her eye is not weaping. The emergency Vet rang yesterday and told me to bath in normal tap water which we did and see how she was. I think she must have caught her eye on a piece of hay. So a good end to yesterdays' worry :D...

    Eye trouble and poorly bun

One-sided runny eye can be several things - local trauma (scratch from hay or dust in Thanks - I think you are right with the Hay in the eye. We put a new hay manger in the hutch yesterday and filled it with some American Timothy Hay which has quite strong stems. Will keep a close watch on...

    Eye trouble and poorly bun

Lilly-Rose (6 month old Dutch bun) has one runny eye (right side) and is not her usual self - quite lethargic. Looking at the advice I have bathed her eye using cooled boiled salt water and will repeat this during the day. If there is no improvement by tomorrow I guess a trip to the vet...
