    hay and lice

Doesn't matter if it is baled or not, It all comes from a crop that is barn stored. I would imagine that is where the lice get in. In over 25 years of keeping rabbits and feeding bales I have never had lice. I personally would burn the bale you have, treat the animals and get another bale from a...

Are there any leaves buns can't have?

I wouldn't feed walnut, very very very bitter. I don't know if it is toxic. NOT SAFE include but not limited to= Rhododenron, laurel, yew, ivy, elder, box, holly, if it is evergreen or has shiny leaves DON'T feed it! That's a good rule of thumb;) SAFE include= hazel, field maple, hawthron...

    The bad side of breeding

Thanks guys! Little Pinks is fine now, though a tad hormonal but that is to be expected I guess. Lupin still looks slim and I still don't think she is in kit, but if nothing by Saturday then we are all clear:thumb: Fingers and paws all crossed:)

    Dusty Hay

Is it dust as in crumbled bits of hay or a fine spray of dust every time you pull hay? If it is a fine mist, please THROW IT AWAY!! If the farmer is saying the hay was baled damp then it is very likely your hay is mouldy. If this is the case, prolonged exposure to the spores (dust) is the cause...

    Bad news...

I don't understand how banding is even possible on a rabbit???? The holes in the band have to be big enough to allow fitting to the pliers, that hole would be too big to retain a young rabbits testes. Added to that a rabbits 'sack' is more a pair of longways pocket rather than the pendulous...

    Rabbit porridge??

Bran mash used to be all that was available for buns. Forage, spare veg, hay and bran mash. My childhood buns were reared on such fare and to be honest, they were in great nick and lived to ripe old ages.:thumb:

Yup same here, It's changed since I used to use it years ago:( I used to swear by it, but now they are losing condition. I think I am going to try the old fashioned way of a mix of oats, barley and wheat all rolled as I have the facilities to mix my own and roll it. I only feed mine a small...

Oak leaves - poisoning our bun?

Looking at it from a different angle oak leaves are a centuries old remedy for gastric complaints, indeed I deliberately feed them to sheep and goats with scours (never done so with a bun as never had one scour). Now I'm not saying to let him carry on eating them but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't...
