  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Vibes for Fizzgig please

I mentioned it last night to the on call vet. But it was a nurse that took her in to the vet as they have implemented a wait in car distancing policy right now. They are an exotics specialist so I would hope they would give her the best treatment available. 😕 Oh I should add that I believe that the head of practice, who saw her yesterday and who was on call, was also in today.

Sound as though she's in the best hands and I hope you get some good news about her later today xx

There is no improvement. The vet has said we have reached the end of the road and has recommended euthanasia. We are waiting to hear back when we can go up to be with her. I am devastated 😭😭😭

Oh no, I am so very sorry

I’m so sorry  you did the kindest thing for her. I hope Sprocket continues to feel ok. Perhaps Sprocket recognised she was very ill already.

My deepest condolences . Sweet dreams beautiful Fizzgig. I expect Sprocket "knew" & I hope he continue to cope well xx

My bridge boy Rio was ok after his bun wife Cleo passed, they were both house bunnies. He was a lone bun for two years before we got her,so he was used to being the sole centre of attention.

Thank you. This was Sprocket's second wife bun. He's going to be 10 this year. He and Fizzgig lived outside in a kennel/aviary. Given fizzgig's illness recently we were advised to keep them indoors. So as Sprocket has been moulting now I am going to keep him as a house bunny especially as I am now working from home until the crisis is over. He will get run time on the lawn in the garden. In the current climate our local rescue is not adopting. But I am not sure I will be adopting another bun for him anyway given his age.

I am sorry that Fizzgig could not recover  May she rest in peace. I am sure that Sprocket will be fine as a House Bunny, he will obviously have a lot of human company xx
