The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Thick white snot from nose- Happend again

rock*

Mama Doe
My frenchie Bramble was sneezing n sounded snuffly last night. I noticed thick white snot up her left nostril n got a tissue n she like sneezed into tissue n it all came out. (thick long sting piece of mucus in clear white form)

Afterwards she was fine n hasnt had runny nose since but i am just worried in case it might be snuffles.

Any suggestions as to why this happend have never seen it before in my other bunnies. Thought it may be dust but not sure.

She is well in herself.

My other bunnies are all ok

Sounds like it could be pasturella - it can come and go. I would get her checked out at the vet as it can go down onto their chest and get much worse if left untreated.

i did wonder if it was sunffles but it was just the one isolated incident.

She may have got a strand of hay stuck up her nose. If the discharge was unilateral and clear then it sounds more like a foreign body/allergy problem. A Vet check is still a good idea though so I'd make an appointment for her

cheers for ur replies

it did just come out in one long strand about 2inch long it was mainly clear with a white strand runing down the side n ends. just like human snot n boogies really.

If she doesn't seem unwell otherwise, and it's not constantly runny, hopefully it's just some dust up her nose - I guess with Frenchie's having bigger nostrils they are bound to breathe in more bits of hay etc. than a smaller rabbit would

yes she is very well in herself. eating loads, sleepingloads more and being a general naughty bun with the rest of the gang.

i think it maybe to do with the hay. and dust.

One of mine gets this too. She has little sneezing bouts and sometimes there is some snot. She's had antibiotics for it, but it still comes back and as she seems fine otherwise I've not tried at the vets again for it. She really reduced the amount of sneezing when I stopped buying hay from the farm (about 4-5 months ago now). So now i have to buy expensive dust free hay from the pet shop but at least she's a little better.
I bought a different type last week and bought two as they looked green, had a nice smell etc and were on special. But she's sneezing a bit more now, so i think it may be dustier! lol!
