i think Cassie might be pregnent : (

Young Bun
well a few weeks ago about the 29th april
Jake was running about the kitchen and Milo (Male) and Cassie were in there cage - none of them are neutered yet - we were planing on getting it done a few weeks ago before this happened but we had to spend the money on Milo for his teath and eye at the vets.
well we always keep pegs on cassie's cage at the top as it is easy to open it is a slide open bit at the top of her cage - we always keep them on when she is in her cage, but somehow Jake took the pegs off and got in the cage  i don't now how that happened.
he was only in for about a minute or so before we notised :?
but now Cassie is digging in her cage and triying to make a nest :?

we were not planing on breeding them and when we have got more money they will definatly be getting done.

my question is could she be pregnent, and could i have info for the babies plz :?:

she is really fat, but she was before this happened.

i will try and get some pics of her. she is a netherland dwarf and Jake is a mix breed bunnie

i also took both Jake and Cassie out in the gerden - Jake was on this extendibal lead thing, and the handle was on the fence - he really likes it because he can run about in the garden, and he doesn't relise he has got it on, and Cassie was with me - they were about a meter away from each other and were definetly no ware near each other to be able to mate. i did that to see what Male rabbit would be best pared up with Cassie after they are neutered.
i am planing on putting Jake with her after they have been done.

if she does have babies we might keep them :D

Well, they have to be in contact to get pregnant so him on the lead won't have done it but him in the cage might have done.

On the positive side female rabbits can have false pregnancies, where they think they are pregnant so build a nest etc. but they aren't really. It may just be that.

Pregnancy lasts around 30 days so they won't be due quite yet if she is.

I assume these are indoor cages you have fixed with pegs?

Caz

ye they are indoor rabbits - they have never ever been outside in a hutch.

they have been out when they have there harnesses on - and when they are in there pen.

Cassie is pregnent and jue anytime - she has tried to make a nest,

are they any info i need to know,
i know i shouldn't touch the babies.

Well i`ve recently learnt that it`s highly stressful for the mother to be enclosed with the babies when she has them as this would not normally happen in the wild. She will only feed them once or twice a day so do not worry if this is the case. You should provide her with a secluded nest box that contains plenty of hay. Once she`s had them she should be allowed out to graze or exercise as normal but i would recommend not confining them all together for the reasons i`ve mentioned above. Baby bunnies start to eat solids by 3-4 weeks old and they should be started on grass where ever possible. A baby bunnies socialisation period is 3-7 weeks of age so this is the best time to get them used to human contact and if you intend to home them this can be done from 8 weeks onwards. They can be weaned from 6-8 weeks old. I was told that it`s best to take the doe away if possible and leave the babies together in their familiar environment for a further week as this is less stressful for them. So much information!!!! Good luck by the way! :D

hi when are the baby buns due? I had a situation where my un neutered male got in with my 9.5 week old doe but Ive been told it should be okay as she is too young - Phew!

I live just outside Glasgow too, where abouts are you?

:D Kath

they are due anytime - it was about the 29th of last month when he got her :?
Cassie is about 10 months :?
and i stay near Hamilton/ Motherwell
i put her up in one of the spare rooms, to get some peace and quiet, as she was making a nest when she was in her cage in the kitchen.
but when i put her up in the room she hasn't done this since.
is it just because she is in a strange place :?:
do you think i should put her back in the kitchen ware the other males are, untile she has the babies then put her up in the room :?:

i just checked her - i was going to take her outside with her harness,
she was very crumpy :?
and she wouldn't let me put her harness on and just ran back into her cage.

this is the sign of a bun about to have babies right.?

coz she is ushualy the sweetist bun around, and alsways lets me put her harness on.

If you just leave her to get on with it she will be fine. Rabbits tend to do everything themselves and don't need much, if any, help. I wouldn't move her once she has had the babies though, as this might upset her.
