  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

A question please re GI Stasis

I've got their texts on my Mobile, they were so eager to part with him, brought food and asked if they should bring his toys. Maybe the Vet decided to keep him in over the weekend?

My friend phoned round various Vets to ask about George but he hadn't been to any of them since Friday. She then phoned the previous owners from my phone but there was no answer, then she phoned them on her phone and they answered. When she asked about George, told them she was a friend, they said he had died and didn't know why. We don't believe that of course as he was a perfectly healthy young Rabbit. So they caused me 5 days of anguish.

That's awful. What a way to treat you. I don't believe he has died either. I just think they panicked when he was sick so early in his new home and decided not to be honest with you about how they felt.

Some people are rubbish. They just can't put them through being honest to save other people's anguish.

I have found with the rabbits I have rehomed, a lot of people look sad to part with them and ask for updates. If you go to the trouble of updating them they ignore you!!

I have also found some of the strangest people when dealing with Rabbits. I really don't understand it! I hope he's happy.
