Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Bald patch

Hi all,

Benji’s got a bald patch on his leg
It was noticed by a groomer today.
No other symptoms.
Should I be worried?

The skin looks inflamed in the photo. Could the Groomer have been a bit too vigorous ? Is the fur damp ( which could indicate he is licking the area a lot, possibly due to pain). If the skin looks as red IRL as it does in the photo and/ or if he is licking the area a lot I would want a Vet to take a look at him.

Thanks both for your reply. I think the groomer pulled off a chunk of his fur by mistake. Because it wasn’t there before the groom (or I’ve not noticed it). It’s looking nice a pale today (looks less red in reality than on the photo). The fur around the area is not wet and he doesn’t seem bothered by this at all. I’ve been observing him all day. He’s his usual self.
Yes, he’s with another rabbit but I’ve not notice any chunks of fur anywhere.

See photo taken today. https://ibb.co/LkZvBMh

I hope he’ll be ok
