  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Recommendations on experienced rabbit vet

Fudge usually sees Molly Varga but unfortunately she’s not in right now. His appointment I wanted earlier in the first place (but she wasn’t in) was moved to Monday but I’m not sure if he’ll be able to wait til then (he needs his ears flushed as gets a wax build up) as it’s started to really affect his gut (small poops). He’s started to look depressed today but thankfully is still eating and pooping, just a third of size they should be.

I’ve got Emprid to help with this which he’s now on his full dose and have been cleaning his ears daily with Tris-Nac to try and relieve them. He’s on Loxicom and paracetamol suspension anyway for arthritis. I’ve been trying to give forage like brambles to support the gut plus Oxbow Digestive Support.

What other experienced rabbit vets would you take him to if it gets really bad? Living in Wirral, so NW England.

I’ve read mixed things about the other exotics vet at the practice on a FB group and not confident about going to him.
