  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Vibes for Harry please

We found an absess under his chin and our vets referred to an exotic vet not far away. Harry, who is 11 next month, is currently under anaesthetic having it sorted, they couldn't find anything obvious from the x Ray causing it.
I've been lucky to find a brilliant vet, he's very knowledgeable and keeping me well updated as things progress.
Meanwhile I'm at home with Daisy rabbit who is pining for Harry, they've hardly ever been apart in the 10 years of being a 'couple' :(

Loads of vibes for Harry. I hope his op goes well & he is back recovering with Daisy very soon. 10 years together:love: that is really special

Oh really sorry to hear about Harry, sending him loads of vibes for a swift recovery, and hope he's soon home with you and Daisy xx

Poor Harry! I hope his operation went well and you can reunite him with his Daisy very soon. X

Oh poor love :( vibes on the way post haste. I hope he can get better soon and be back home and happy with you and Daisy. xxxxx

Thanks everyone,he's home!
Started eating as soon as he came round the vet said. He doesn't think it was tooth related, there's one tooth he's going to keep an eye on but the absess had no connection to any teeth. Maybe he had a small scratch or wound that got infected, we'll just keep an eye on him. Daisy was pleased to see him :)

Excellent news :D Harry has done really well and it's also very good that the abscess was not tooth related. Sending him lots of vibes for his ongoing recovery.
