Hi everyone. I just got a lovely rabbit as a gift so i’m really a noob here. I read that rabbits shouldn’t be eating too much fresh veggies but eating dried one instead. However, my baby is always down for fresh veggies rather than dried one. So, should I limit the amount of fresh veggies and replace them with dried carrots for her? Please give me some advice, thanks in advance!

Hello and welcome to the forum

Carrots, whether fresh or dried are not a good food for a rabbit, as they are too high in sugar. However, so that we can advise properly, could you give some details about your rabbit, especially her age?

As a matter of interest where did you read that too much fresh food is to be avoided?

The main diet for rabits should be hay or grass. If she's used to fresh veg, you can continue with those. Introduce any new ones slowly. Things like carrots and apple should only be given in small amounts. She needs high fibre - so leaves and stems such as bramble, apple, willow, celery. Fibre is essential to keep the guts functioning normally.

Water is also essential, and they tend to drink more from a bowl than a bottle. Heavy ceramic dog / cat bowls work best as they can't be tipped over as easily.
