  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Possible sniffles

Hi all, back from vets & Bella needs her spurs done again. The soonest they could give it March 30th! I asked about bloods & swabs but vet said we need to wait until she goes under for her teeth. Her nose is much better hardly any but it’s still a bit damp. Vet said it will be her teeth causing. I’m never able to get tests done there & then at vets & I don’t know why this is I really don’t. Xx

It may be easier to get blood and swab while she is under ga. Has she had x ray to check tooth roots? Sending vibes she remains active and eating until her dental.

Thank you [emoji3590]. Yes that’s very true & at least she will get them done then. Yes she had an X-ray at previous vets before I moved. They said was fine but they are not rabbit savvy. I’m going to ask the new practice to have a look & im also ask them to send it to a specialist which I don’t mind whatever I need to pay for to look at it properly. I feel it needs someone experienced in this to look at it. She’s very active & eating & the vet thinks it’s just her teeth needing done so will see. She’s in for her teeth on the 30th xx

Glad you've home and vets visit went ok, and doesn't sound as though she's in too much discomfort if she's eating ok. She's very lucky bun to have you caring for her xx

Been there done that. The waiting game for teeth. Be observent of eating and pooping. To avoid stasis, you can add more soft food, a bit more pellets. That is if there is significantly less hay consumption.
