  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

E.Cuniculi and hind leg paralysis

Hi, it’s been a while so I thought I’d give you another Holly update! After 2 rounds of 28 days panacur, she seems to have pretty much recovered. She uses her right leg and can jump in and out things, she can use her litter tray, I am so pleased that I carried on with the treatment! 2 weeks ago I picked her up and noticed her left leg was floppy, she’s been back to the vets, they can feel swelling on her knee and think it may be dislocated so she is booked in for an X-ray next week, they have said it will either need splinting or pinning. Whether she caught it on something or not I don’t know. She’s on Metacam twice a day, I’ve recently been putting her in her outside run when I’m home to watch her and have seen her doing little binkies 🙂

So pleased to hear that Holly has recovered well from the EC, and hope that the vet visit goes well, and her leg gets sorted. Sending loads of vibes for your girlie, let us know how she gets on.
