Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Sneezing?

Hello all! So our two giant bunny babies have settled in brilliant into being house bunnies this past three weeks. I got them checked with a vet locally when we brought them home but they weren’t confident with bunnies so I’m going to find a rabbit savvy vet locally.
Tonight though I’ve noticed that Bobby is sneezing. He’s still being very active, running around like a mad thing, eating loads and poohing well. Nose is slightly wet, but he’s a messy drinker so maybe that? Eyes look fine. And now Bella has also just sneezed, just once.
What do I need to do? I’ve tried googling it but the advice is very conflicting! Advice would be appreciated!

Sneezing a lot can be indicative of the start of a respiratory tract infection. It can also be caused by allergies or a result of a dry atmosphere caused by central heating. House Rabbits can react badly to environmental allergens such as scented cleaning products/ air fresheners etc.Certain substrates used in housing/litter trays such as wood shavings or sawdust can cause allergies.
If the sneezing is not just a one off occasional event it merits a consultation with a Rabbit Savvy Vet

When they saw the previous Vet did you get them vaccinated ? Once confirmed to be fit and well it is very important that they both have their vaccination.

Brko is a sneezer also. 998% he sneezes due to elongated roots that are irritating the sinus-nasal cannal. Vet check up can determine why they sneeze. Is it dusty hay, infection, alergy or elongated roots (x-ray for that). young bunnies don't have roots problem, atleast not elongation, that is something that might occur over the years (hopefully not).

Bunny Blue sneezes on and off. We went to the vet and he said there was nothing really wrong with him. Still, he sent some medication just in case. (Thanks Doc £££)
We went to visit some friends recently and he didn't sneeze there at all. So we are thinking maybe he is allergic to something in the house but we don't know what.
(I made a video of the trip... https://youtu.be/NeD1SSTwqeg )

does he sneezes when or after eating? In that case might be either dust, tooth root problem or even alergy to some type of grass. Smoker in the house? cleaning products? Bedding material? Fabric softener?
