Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Atticus very ill :(

He's eating loads of hay [emoji7] still sucked in though and there's still no more output, not sure what to make of that tbh!

I'm so glad he's managed to turn this around so quickly, I never know what I'll get, it's either this, or a few days of nothing or sometimes weeks of just a complete nightmare. How he was yesterday seemed like one of the worst times tbh, he must have been in a lot of pain. I'm glad he seems to be feeling better though [emoji7]

Where I'm pointing is like a dip, it's on both sides, the camera makes it look flat but that section is like sucked in, but it's not like that when he's okay. He's always skinny obviously, but he looks different when he's unwell.. Idk if anyone knows what that is?

He's on the right here, they're both eating pellets (literally the last thing Clementine needs but I can't feed just him unfortunately :(we always do food in the cage and she sometimes humps if she doesn't get food first [emoji30] because he's unwell were shutting the kitchen door atm though as sometimes he treads in it or just goes randomly, and there's rugs and carpet elsewhere, but they've got their cage and the run of the office and kitchen for now, although he's basically stayed in the cage most of the time, was nice to see him out this morning though for a bit)

Sending lots more vibes. I’m glad he is eating better. If he can have pellets maybe a junior variety would help him put weight on.

Yea, he can't really, they make him unwell tbh, but I just don't know what to do with him you know? I could try that though, problem is Clementine is overweight [emoji849] ideally she'd have no pellets [emoji38]

My only method for preventing chubby Chibbs eating Lopsy's extras is to wear a hood: turns out she doesn't want to be anywhere near me if I've got my hood up XD She's not a terrible humper at the moment so we're OK, it's so hard when they are! I see what you mean about sucked in sides: it's like a more prominent spine but lower. I know rabbit intestines are there (2/3 of them is gut) so I would guess it's something to do with that (perhaps obvious!) but i don't know how or why it would happen.

I have no reasonable explanation for this, which is why it almost seems silly to post, but with my Rexes I always found that they looked similar to this when they were feeling unwell, irrespective of what the issue was. We find something similar with the Chickens too, in that when they are feeling unwell they don't hold their wings up correctly. I can only think it's a reaction to feeling unwell and unable to 'bother' for want of a better word. Especially with Tethra I found that this appearance could come and go very quickly. Far too quickly I think for it to be anything to do with weight lost or re-gained.

Thanks everyone! Yea Idk why it happens tbh.

He's been up and down today, was doing better then went downhill again, then a few hours later was horribly unwell then he was feeling better again. I'm hoping he'll be back to "normal" soon. Then I'll get him booked in. Clementine needs a check up too for her bladder sludge and arthritis so hopefully they can both go next week or something. I know it probably sounds weird to wait, but he's better off getting back to his normal, stress makes everything worse for him, I'd rather him be doing okay before going for a load of tests if possible.

He's been springy for the last hour though and begging Evelyn for banana [emoji38] which is nice to see tbh

You're very experienced with rabbits, I'm sure you've decided on the best one. I'm also glad that Atticus is begging for bananas :D Too much vibration to make him even better xxxxxxx

I think waiting until he's more stable before getting him to the vet is a good idea, especially when he's been so up and down and stress makes things worse. I'm glad he was so springy last night and was begging Evelyn for some banana.:love: I hope he's been feeling better today. Sending him lots more vibes.

gosh, bit late to this thread. i hope Atticus is OK! begging for food is a good sign.
sending lots of vibes for him xxx

Sending more vibes for Atticus. Honestly, in anyone else's care he would have been at the bridge long ago, so I know you are doing an excellent job giving him a good life.

Thanks everyone for thinking of him, you're all so lovely [emoji7] he's doing okay, it's up and down still but then he passes stuff and seems lots better then it goes a bit backwards again. It's kinda to be expected and his normal behaviour tbh. I'm not so worried as I was because this normally means we're on the upswing again :) I have been giving him a handful of ss grain free daily, I just want him to eat tbh.

That's so kind of you to say. Tbh we've nearly lost him too many times, I do not **** about anymore, aggressive and fast treatment seems to be the most successful strategy I've found, it really seems to make a difference. I'm honestly glad I'm around more, I used to worry so much after a long day that he'd have gotten unwell etc. I know one day it'll just not work out anymore and that kills me tbh or we won't be able to get him to gain and it's not sustainable anymore. Gunna try my absolute best though to give him his best shot, he really deserves it, he's such a clever rabbit and he's been through so much. He's definitely a fighter [emoji38]
