Recovery from dental

Zigzag

Alpha Buck
Hello,

Zigzag just had a dental, well yesterday at Twickenham Vets.

I’m pretty exhausted as we’ve just moved today, and I picked them up via public transport- they’re used to this as we don’t have a car.

Zigs has eaten, and is running about but is slowly eating his science selective. And sometimes just not eating them. I may be panicking unnecessarily and am exhausted. And yes I have drunk some champagne!

Would anyone be able to tell me how long it takes to recover?

And apologies as I am tired!

He’s on metacam xx

My bunnies can vary from a day to many days. You said he is eating. If he is producing poo, pee, and drinking, he may need more time to get back to his normal eating habits.

I my experience with Tom and Casper it can really vary. Sometimes they bounce(d) back immediately, and something it takes/took weeks. It does sound like you've had an exhausting day, moving and looking after Zigzag at the same time! I'd just keep an eye on his poops, and offer him lots of favourite foods to encourage him. Sending him lots and lots of vibes.

Thank you for your responses, it’s much appreciated. Lovely to get this support!

It was a very exhausting day, and I’m aware they’re in a new environment as well. His poo poos are good, much better than before the dental, and he’s eating and urinating just fine. It’s just the pellet eating that’s slightly different. I’m relieved to hear that it can take a bit of time to recover. I think I was being impatient. Which is my default position!!

That sounds like hes doing really well.

I think they're sometimes a bit funny for a few days with textures because they don't feel like they're used to.

Rodney will often refuse something after a dental although it's usually the fresh stuff.

Totally agree with Readers experience. Some times they are back to normal & eating everything the second they are home & other times it can take days & days. It sounds like it was a big day for everybun. I think I'd be happy with what you reported. Lots of vibes for the worlds most handsome dutch bunny

Oh, it's only his pellets that he's having some difficulty with! I think, too, that he's doing really well, then. Often they eat somewhat selectively after a dental, but with time they usually go back to normal and eat all their usual things again. :) Sending Zigzag more vibes!
