Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Bunny tummy problems

Young Bun
I went to feed my rabbits yesterday morning which they always get super excited about, especially Bella, but she seemed very uninterested and remained lying down (even when i pet her, she always gets up to her feet when i come over to her but she remained in a lying position), even when i tried her with treats. If i got too close she would growl. I left her the bowl just incase she was having a bad morning and after checking 10 minutes later i seen she was eating it so i just put it down to a bad mood.

Later in the evening, when i was giving them their supper i noticed there was a little bit of diarrhea, i checked her bottom (which i forgot to mention was a little mucusy in the morning but fine and clean in the evening). I've checked on them through the night and this morning and they are both fine now, eating great and their normal playful selves and no further signs of loose stools.

Could it have just been an upset tummy or should i still be concerned even if she seems okay now ?

I would get her checked out by your vet today as a matter of urgency. Rabbits hide their symptoms and can go downhill very quickly when there's something wrong. A rabbit not eating is an emergency vet visit as their guts shut down without any food input. Mucus and diarrhoea are also causes for concern.

So i contacted my vets just to get some advice. They said that because she seems fine now and is eating, drinking, pooping, and playing normally they don't see her condition as a matter of urgency. They have advised me to keep an eye on her incase she worsens at all but i think that she's probs just had a bit of a bad tummy.

I am pleased your Bunny is back to normal now. Maybe she has a sensitive tummy as some Rabbits do have. Try to keep her diet plain and don't overfeed her, give her lots of hay.
