  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Maples in hospital

We went out for the evening to give maple some quiet time. Was eating at 5 and passing poo although I could tell she was on the turn. Came home at half 9 and she’s not eating and passing small poops. They gave us the option of treating her with some metacam at home as she is passing poo but I said I would rather she come in. I don’t know if that is the right decision but I know I will be worrying all night if she was in my care. The vet on tonight is super savvy

I'm really sorry to hear that. I'm sending too many vibrations for the Maple. Xxxx I hope we get good news this morning

Oh, no, I'm so sorry she's unwell. :( I would've made the same decision, instead of keeping her at home. Sending her so many vibes. I hope she's doing better this morning and can come home soon.

Thanks everybun. Oh has been up in the night and awake since 5 this morning. He doesn’t handle anything well when it involves his Maples.

Oh no, I'm sorry Maple is unwell. It sounds like she is in the best place at the moment and will be looked after really well. I think the fact she was still pooing when you took her in is a good sign as it means you've got her treatment started really early.

Sending lots of vibes for Maple xx
