Hello, my name is Ellie and I am hand rearing an orphaned baby wild rabbit, and he is about 3 days old, I am using a formula of goats milk, egg yolk and heavy cream for him, to get the fat content up to 12% which is what a rabbit would have, so I hope this sounds ok? And I've been researching and have found that I need cecotropes for the bunny, which I am finding hard to get. I saw this blog about this lady who hand reared a wild bunny and she said she went to a bunny breeder to get the cecotropes. I was wondering and hoping if anyone has a bunny or knows a bunny breeder that could give me some cecotropes? I live near Tavistock in Devon.

I would not advise doing this as RHD is rife at the moment and the risks will outweigh any potential benefits. There have been numerous recent fatalities in your part of the U.K. You could try adding Fibreplex to the feeds , Fibreplex contains a specific probiotic known to colonise well in the bowel.

Can't help with the cecos as I'm too far away but is egg and cream okay for a bun? I thought they couldn't have these [emoji51] I know absolutely nothing about hand rearing tho!

It is difficult to hand rear a baby so young, though it is possible, and I know you will do your best. The link Zoobec sent has a lot of good information. Sending positive vibes for your success.
 
How kind of you to take care of the orphaned bunny. :) Is there no wildlife rescue near you? That would honestly give the bunny the best chance, as the people there are specialised in caring for wild orphaned babies. Wild orphaned rabbits at our rescue get a powdered milk with a high fat content, but I'm not sure if you can purchase it if you don't have a rescue business.

Some breeders use Full Fat Goats Milk and Double Cream with good results. I hand reared a litter of 5 on this :)
Not heard of anyone who has added egg yolk to the mix though. Cimicat, a milk replacer made for kittens can be used as can this
