Does my doe carry rew?

Hi,

I'm aware that marten smokes and siamese sable can carry rew "visually '.

Apparently, a double sable gene causes dark varieties.
But carrying a Rew gene causes medium shades.

I'm pretty sure my marten smoke pearl is medium not dark.
That means she carries rew?
It is that a myth that medium shades of sable marten have to carry rew?

Thanks,

I doubt that many forum members have that sort of information to hand but there seem to be plenty of books and articles you can look at. Alternatively, you may be better to ask on a site which caters for breeders.

Asked a very reliable person and this is her reply :

‘’Sable is, like all the shaded genes, variable (modifiers probably), so some of the darker mediums could be double sable. Other mediums (most) carry either REW or himi - both work the same. Light sable is also known - that would be a single sable gene of the lighter kind’’
