  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Buck being lethargic??

Floppylop

Young Bun
My Lionlop boy, got off to a bad start with a dose of e-cunli, which he was treated for and is been fine ever since (tho I am not sure he is back to complete normality)I have recently noticed he seems to have lost some weight, he is eating well and is moulting quite heavily, wasnt sure if he looked thinner because of themoult, tho the others dontseem to be moulting anywhere near as much as he, has anyone come across anything similar, will be booking him for a check....He doesnt appear to have any of the e-cunli symptoms , but seems to spend a lot of time sleeping thro the day, and seems to only eat and play through the night???

EC can effect the kidneys in the long term- chronic renal failure. One of the symptoms of CRF is unexplained weight loss. It can also cause lethargy. I would suggest a full blood profile.

It does seemed to have happened since he was neutered, atho it could be coincidence , I will look into the renal issue, just wish I had a rabbit savvy vet, whenever I ask they will say 'oh yes' then when they see the animal they havent a clue
