  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Does this look normal?

This is Blossom sleeping, sometimes she snores but not today. I couldn't mute the tv without waking her unfortunately so please excuse the sound.

Every so often I try and catch her snoring but she wakes up whenever I try.

I keep coming back to worrying about the snoring and breathing while asleep. Hubby thinks its fine and she's just waking up and he's probably right but more opinions would be welcome.

I don’t think there is too much to worry about. She is quite...ermmmm,... ‘curvaceous’ which can mean the Bunny snores when sleeping . From the video I can’t see any increased respiratory rate or effort. That, along with snoring would be more concerning. She does appear to have her mouth slightly in a ‘whistling’ shape, not mouth breathing ( which is always serious), but maybe something to monitor.

Getting her to slim down a bit will probably stop the snoring :D

I fear she is putting on some weight although her dewlap has always been large.

I think it may be the nuggets I'm feeding them 20g to share scattered about. I might reduce it a bit.

It is always louder and more noticable when she's errr reclining into her dewlap if that makes sense?

Yes, it is often the case x

Thank you for the reassurance.

We shall reduce the nuggets and try to encourage extra exercise in some way!

So far getting buns to chase me for their nuggets is working out well for them but oh my god are they fast.

And if I don't produce it fast enough my toes get bitten! I swear the things we do for our bunnies [emoji23]
