Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Slobber, excessive salivating

Yey we have tiny bit larger poops. I also trim some chest fur (although it is not infected skin, but it was wet from over grooming and washing under chin, and neck...So he got an ugly haircut.

the bigest poop is from Sherlock. The lighting is bad. Sherlock has golden poop. Brko has dark poops, but not so tiny anymore.

sooo. the vet did nit wxpect it would get worse in such extent. Skin is bad. He is drinking, eating, but not hay. Vet will consult with more specialised friend. In meantime we continue with Loxicom, Enroxil both every 12 hours, Plivasept shampoo 1x-2x day, antimicotic cream and as of today honey healing cream. Sadly cream tastes yummy and I'm on wach for licking. meaning one hour of cuddling behind us. Will see how much skeep will I get during night.

Hello!

At first we thought simple bacterial infection and we did not test for fungus or bacteria. But since it spread and it is obviously irritated by skin and is pulling fur out. We took sample yesterday for testing. In the mean time we have antimicotic cream, he was given Stronghold just in case it might be some parasites and also wound cream that has honey in (it is a loong watch after applying that cream-he wants to lick it. It sure tastes yummy to him). It might be also that his imune system is weekend or some tumor, hormonal issues. I'm glad that the vet is open minded and will consult.

He eats most of his ceacotrophes now, I decided I will growdandelion after snow goes away :D

But he drinks on his own, eats veggies, pellets, vitamin cookie, is a champ during gentlse shampoo and cream aplying. antimicotic cream 2x per day and wound cream if possible 2x-3x a day. And little sleep for me. Outside is sun and I'm bun watching most of the day and night. His poops are almost normal (apart from being dark as he will not eat hay).

If it gets worse- I will call vet. Otherwise check up next week.

I read the link-so he has propper and high dose of enrofloxacin (Enroxil in SLovenia). He does not have antibiotic cream though. Will ask vet about. He does have antibacterial shampoo that we use 1x-2x a day.

He certainly has a dedicated care giver  Sending lots more vibes for him x

You're doing so much for him  I'm pleased he is so tolerant of all the hands on care. I hope the test results give some answers

So he started to eat hay yesterday evening. 👍He has less crusting around mouth. Poops are almost normal. At this point skin looks less red, he is not pulling fur out anymore. I have the feeling infection is not spreading further.

Sending vibes for a continued recovery it sounds like things might be slowly going in the right direction!

Pics yesterday 23.2.2021 Looking much better. And he is feeling much better. I gave him very soft bedding in his cage. So now he sleeps in his cage instead of carrier. His checkup is next week. Until then the same procedure continues.
