Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Dennis isn’t eating

I spent the whole day sobbing yesterday because I had a gut feel about Dennis. He was eating but didn’t come out of his house the whole day. I have a gut feeling he is deteriorating as he looked more uncomfortable too. I checked on him last night and he was up all night eating hay, then this morning he ate normal. The council are making an absolute racket this morning doing up the house next door and lo and behold Dennis is now not eating. Anton want to give him a few hours to see if it he eats once they have stopped making a noise. I think a bunny mums intuition is always right and this has tipped him over the edge. I will be admiting him at 5.20 today

Oh, I'm so sorry, loobers. Poor Dennis. :( So, so many vibes for him. I hope they'll be able to help him feel better when he's admitted.

Have just come on and seen this, what a worry, I hope he is ok :( Sending lots of love loobers xx

Have just seen this thread and sending millions and millions of vibes for Dennis.
I hope the vet can determine what the problem is - with all your describing it sounds like stress.
You are right about your intuition and it’s wonderful you have got Dennis to the vet this evening.
Fingers crossed all goes well. Xx

Sending (((((healing vibes)))))) your way for Dennis.

The only joy I could find in Mimzy having been deaf most of his life is noise had no effect on him. My ex once started up a chainsaw outside my window which had poor Fiver wide eyed but Mimz was just a cool cucumber. That's how I knew. :?

Hope Dennis will recover quickly and that the council will finish their mess and get gone even quicker. xxxx

I think he’s been in pain with his osteoarthritis (I had an appointment with JC tomorrow for that) but today has tipped him over the edge.

He’s gone for X-ray to check for blockage, glucose is 11, sub fluids and pain relief, we are doing bloods for renal fuction and once recovered we will potentially start laser therapy treatment for his spine

Pain from his OA makes sense :( I hope that the vets can stabilise him so that he can try the laser therapy treatment.
