Quick update on Lillian bunny for everybun as just gotten off phone from the exotic specialist.
Dont panic - all is GOOD. It's 8 weeks exactly today that she last saw a vet. Given she was seeing a vet every 2 weeks from August til November, then I'm well chuffed. Lillians progress has been good and we can't yet establish if it's the meds that are keeping the spasms away or the fact she's not been eating that bulb triffid leaf thing. But I spoke with the exotic specialist just now because we need to formulate a long term management plan for Lillian.
We've withdrawn metacam and the advice is to withdraw in factors of 3. So we've got to maintain present meds but go 3 weeks without metacam. After those 3 weeks, reduce the gabapentin to 1/8th tablet once a day for 3 weeks and see how that goes. If Lillian remains healthy with no urinary issues, then we can then look to withdraw the gabapentin at that point. If she has any wobbles from now, then return to the metacam and if she wobbles when we reduce the gabapentin then we just return to the present medication.
So, things are looking quite positive for Lillian at the moment - fingers crossed that it continues like this.
