The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Harvey's got so thin

They can lose weight so quickly, so don't beat yourself up over that - the past few weeks we've been weighing ours every 2-3 days and the variation is astonishing, they can lose 200-300g in the space of 24-36hrs, but gain it equally quickly (giants so both around 6-7.5kg). So many variants especially with outdoor rabbits - cold and wet will make them drop weight quite quickly, dry cold not so much, even with extra/higher calorie food.
Great to hear he is doing well now!

Hi!

Glad for the update. Just to ask. How old is Harvey? If he is in general good condition and not really oldie I would get teeth burred down under the ansthetic.
He'll be 8 in the spring but he's a nethie so life expectancy is 7-10 yrs [emoji26] I will get the dental if he goes downhill again but whilst he is doing ok i just don't want to risk it as he is also quite small which increases risk too.

Thanks for the reassurance Dollyanna. It was such a shock to see him so thin. He's a lot littler than your giants, so thankfully he'd weight isn't varying that much [emoji2]

Thanks everyone. I put him out in the run today and he and Coco were binkying about on the lawn which was lovely to see!

I am glad Harvey made such a wonderful recovery with your care. 1.4 kg is a good weight for a nethie.
My Raven is a nethie-1.2 kg and he is 6.5 years old. I had several nethies live much longer, so he is not old. Raven is a dental bunny. I waited to long last fall and it was hard to get him eating again. Yet when he is doing well I don't want to get a dental that may result in him going off food for any amount of time.
Harvey is eating well,so his eating may have helped to wear his teeth to proper levels. I would be reluctant to do a dental while he is doing so well, yet something to consider if his eating slows in the future.
Sending vibes for many happy years with your bunnies.
