  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Triple vac question

Britney and Whitney both had their triple jabs yesterday. They were absolutely fine beforehand. Today they're both more quiet than normal, Whitney more so. They've just been huddled together all day in a different spot than normal. Both are still eating etc so I'm not massively concerned at the moment but just wondered if it could be as a result of the jab?

Has anyone else experienced rabbits being withdrawn after the triple jab (or any vaccines in the past)? Since we've only had them a year, they've only had one set of jabs with us before now and I can't remember if they were like this last time or not.

It can definitely happen, it might be that the vaccine itself is making them feel a little bit under the weather (just like many vaccines we have can make us feel a bit rubbish) or it could have been the stress of the vet trip. The fact they're still eating is a great sign, keep offering them plenty of tasty food and make sure they're pooping and hopefully they should perk up in a day or two. If either of them completely stop eating they would need an emergency trip to the vet but hopefully it shouldn't come to that :)

Rodney was a little upset after his.

I put it down to a how dare you take me to the vets strop at first and he seemed back to normal after about 48 hours.
