A little spare cash...

Salopian

New Kit
Greetings, friends, from Shropshire.

I am a newbie here and want to ask a question. Due to a recent 'windfall' I have some spare money coming in each month and I would like to give 10 per cent of it away. There are of course many, many good causes, but I've always liked Rabbits and I thought I'd like to support a rabbit rescue centre.

Please don't get excited, it's only a small amount, probably £25 per month, but every little helps. But I'd like to ask, should I

a) give it to the Rabbit Welfare Fund?
b) give it to a different Rescue centre each month?
c) give it to one centre each month for a year and then change it to a different one?
d) just support one centre on a long term basis?

Also, it would be good if the recipient could claim gift aid, but am I right in thinking that only registered charities can claim that? I imagine some of the smaller rescue centres are not charity registered.

Finally, sorry this has been a bit long, but does anyone know of a Rabbit rescue centre in or near Shropshire? I can't find any online.

Thank you.

Welcome - how lovely! & a very worthy cause. Personally I'd opt for C & review, potentially D

For me I'd only give to a Registered Charity (theres no shortage of them)

Welcome to the forum and wow - what an introduction and so incredibly unselfish and kind. The world is inherently short of people like you and you have restored my faith in some of humanity. Bravo to you.
There are an abundance of rabbit charities out there who would be grateful for donations. I’m sure my ru friends will have some ideas. But here’s mine. I wouldn’t advocate one charity for 12 months and then change. It would seem harsh on the charity to get used to a donation then it cease. So perhaps spread the kindness. Maybe chose 2 or 3 and make quarterly or a donation every 3 months to those charities.
Gift vouchers from Amazon or buying from rabbit friendly suppliers is also a great way to support charities and you would be helping charities and supporting rabbit businesses at the same time.
I applaud you so much for your huge generous heart and you will be giving rabbits the special love and kindness they so desperately need from your kindness.

What a lovely idea!
You could look at the Pledge a Pound charity as they spread the donations around several different rabbit rescue charities

This is a good idea. However, if it were me I would choose just one rescue centre. i.e. option D. The reason would be that I would like to get to know the rescue and perhaps get updates. I would also make sure it was a registered charity. I supect the majority of rescues are registered.
