Smudge only has one working eye now. The vet noticed a slight cataract a couple months ago and this week they have looked and said the eye is definitely not working and he could see a bit of bleeding inside.
What I am concerned about is that she will often close this eye. The vet said sometimes they can have pain that can cause them to close the eye, however she isn't showing other signs of being in pain like rubbing the eye. She's eating fine too.
So for now we are just keeping an eye on her, but there is the option of some rather expensive special eye drops. I'm in two minds about whether to go this route as we don't even know if it's causing discomfort. Could she be closing her eye because it's not working or is it more likely that it's starting to cause her pain?? Has anyone ever been through this with a rabbit before?
Thank you
