  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Vacant seizures - he’s gone :(

I am so sorry. I can remember Smudge from a very long time ago, I can imagine how hard it will be to adapt to his loss.

Thank you everyone for your kind words.

I’ve had a bit of a mare today  thought I’d made an arrangement to go to the pet crematorium I’ve used previously. Managed to accidentally make one with a different crem nearby, and turns out usual crem is shut on Saturdays. Oops, so got to wait until Monday. I don’t really know what to do in the meantime but I’ve put him in the car as it’s colder outside.

Imogen is a bit quiet, I had to put the pellets right in front of her this morning instead of the usual mad rush. Think she took her cues from whatever Smudge did. She is very wet under her chin so I’m not sure what’s going on there, no other signs of teeth problems, and Smudge had this too some months ago. Hopefully Richard can get to the bottom of it on Monday.

Hope today went as well as possible for you. How is Imogen doing?

Thank you, was much smoother than Saturday! Imogen is doing ok, she’s been drooling for a while now too, vet couldn’t see anything in her mouth, suspects it’s teeth but wants to wait a bit before doing a dental. She’s quiet but eating and popping fine, I’ve set up a pen downstairs for her so she has a bit of company during the day.
