Lillian unwell - in hospital for an overnight stay

Right - now I’m hecking confused. Feel free to comment/advise or just smile.
Meds given about 90 minutes ago. Madame showing little zest to do anything. I get that. She’s been prodded and no doubt her tummy hurts from being expressed. So I completely get that.
10 mins ago I go to check in her. She’s sploofed out in the same area she’s been the last 24 hours, eyes tight shut. Dreaming of carrots no doubt but I’ve not seen Lillian like that - shut eye sleeping. Had to check she was breathing.
Anyway, I opened the back door to garden to let some air in and maybe just make Lillian feel the nice fresh air and the autumn warmth whilst I started on making meals and my sandwiches for lunches next week.
My back is turned for 5 minutes - 5 minutes. Next thing I hear is my wife saying “ooh she’s running up the garden”. I turn round and sure enough she’s scampering up to her favourite sunbathing spot at the top of the garden closely followed by floofy feet. She’s settled down comfy, not fidgeting as she was 2 days ago. Sun warm on her back but shade if she wants it. There’s triffids to nom on and grass.
But I’m really pleased she’s gone out and felt the need and desire and energy to go out. It’s her decision and the sun will give her vitamin c and she’ll fell better in the fresh autumn air.
Ask me half an hour ago and I was worried as heck. Now I feel a lot better seeing Lillian chose to go out.
I’ll update you all later when my stress levels are better!

What has her wee and poo output been like ?

Good question - apologies I had omitted this observation. She’s been given a bit of a ‘Brazilian’ whilst under the anaesthetic so she’s lovely and clean and no straggly bits of floof. Skin is beautifully pink and it’s all dry.
I’ve seen some poop but to be fair she’s sitting in the same area the last 24 hours. There is clear evidence of poop where she has been as she’s not moved. Both her and Leo will use the same spot but Leo tends to do quite substantial nuggets and Lillian’s are a bit more .... ladylike. Hard to tell for wee as I’ll have to pull the area apart but i will do that later.
Now she’s outside she goes to the same place in the garden so I can check that area during the day.

I think making sure that she is weeing will be important as if she’s holding wee in things will go pear shaped again x

Definite evidence of wee. Just cleaned the toilet area out and whilst not as wet as it usually is (by wet I mean that the newspaper base layer shows the wee evidence and the mega orb top layer dies it’s job and keeps everything nice and dry). It’s all in the area that Lillian has been stationary in during Saturday so I’m satisfied that she is peeing although I expect more once her gut movement and appetite are fully restored.

That’s good news. Hope she continues to improve x

Quick update at 5pm. Lillian has been outside in the garden since mid morning. She has demolished my coriander patch that I'd grown from the fresh asda corander growing herbs I'd bought over the last few weeks - but I'm glad she has. She's roamed round the garden eating triffids and grass at her own chosing and in the area she goes to the toliet in in the garden, there are fresh bum nuggets and Leo hasn't been outside so these are Lillians. Which is supportive of her gut moving and that she is developing her appetite once again. She has spent the day sunbathing but she is comfortable - she is sitting for long periods without any sign of discomfort.
The exotic specialist is ringing me tomorrow so we'll know more then about the plan forward. I'll go and bring madame in from the garden soon as it's nearly tea time and we'll see how she behaves when she is in. But so far her bahaviour today has been much more like Lillian usually is. It's just that she takes a bit longer to recover following anaesthetic procedures.
Here is a photo taken a short while ago of Lillian 'grazing' on one of or triffids....

Thank you all for your input and for your kind responses and support. It means the world to me and Lillian.

Just catching up with this. Your description of Lillian and Leo reuniting almost made me cry. They clearly have a wonderful bond. I usually take a companion to the vet as well as the patient as I have had the bun 'left behind' stop eating and I think it must be comforting for a bun in a strange place to have somebun familiar to chat to.

I know this is not always possible though.

Glad Lillian has enjoyed the lovely weather today. I could picture her scampering up the garden. Your buns have such an awesome life with you

Final update for Lillian's thread here. Had a chat with our exotic specialist this morning. The special muscle relaxant drug - blusomething or other, is about £190 per 100ml bottle. Once opened, it has to be used within a month. It was felt that this could be quite an expensive option. Option 2 is to utilise diazipan - which I know from personal experience is a fantastic muscle relaxant (slipped discs 19 years ago). The downside is that it's a tightly prescribed drug and also addictive. But it is also an option.
Option 3 is daily metacam to combat any discomfort which may be what causes the spasms.
We've agreed to continue to administer metacm to begin with. See how Lillian responds. Since we know the signs, then we can escalate the treatment accordingly if the metacam doesn't address the spasm issues. We can then escalate to diazipam at the hospital - it's going to be available for Lillian. If that also fails, then we can then use the expensive drug and hopefully that will help.
Lillian has continued to improve - is beautifully clean underneath and yesterday although I never posted it, after I went to get her in at tea time, she did the most wonderful stress free pee. I've never been so excited or fascinated to observe a rabbit wee before. She has this cheeky routine when it's time to come in and her way of playing for time. She goes to the toilet area of the garden and plays for time with a cheeky poo and wee but yesterday she did such a relaxing unstressed wee it was a joy to behold.
She is eating better, and she's had some lovely garden time this afternoon. As I've said many times before with Lillian, it's small steps with her but always learning and she has such incredible resiliance and determination. She's presently tucking into her tea and she thanks everyone for all your vibes and thoughts.

Such a great update Craig, and I'm so pleased that there are options to help Lillian, should she need it. She is so lucky having you looking out for her, and amazing husbun Leo

That's the kind of resolution every bunny parent longs to see. So glad for you, Lillian and Leo too. xxxx

Continuing to work on getting her weight down should benefit her bladder problems. Being overweight is associated with over active bladder syndrome/interstitial cystitis in women.x

Absolutely agree jj. You missed your vocation in life - you should have been a vet.
We are really working hard on getting that weight down in gradual steps. If we can continue with 100g per month then it’ll make a huge difference. She’s due for her jabs in a months time so we’ll know better then.
So far things are very positive. Just cleaned them out and tons of wet newspaper today which is great.
She’s outside monching on the grass as I speak.
