  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Fiver mystery. Elderly bun advice.

Thanks guys. He's a handsome chap, even with his white eye. It just makes him look distinguished haha. Although, maybe I should have named him General Roundwort rather than Fiver haha.

He's certainly doing better but he still will not eat his hay so I'm thinking the hay is the problem. He's eating everything else, including readigrass, hay cookies, normal grass, forage, pellets, fibafirst sticks, fenugreek crunchies etc. I'm fairly sure that whatever the issue is, it isn't a physical problem. Today I've overhauled the room and put in a medium dog crate with a litter in it, filled it with the Timothy hay with marigolds mixed in and some new diggy loam square thingy with dried flowers and hay in it. I can't do anything more to get him to like hay again haha.
He's been out all afternoon in his run and has done nothing but eat the grass. I'm going to stop the emeprid today and see how he goes.

I haven't managed to dip his urine yet since rather predictably he hasn't weed outside his litter tray since seeing the vet haha. He honestly seems fine in himself.
