Red lumps on bunny's skin

Hi All,

Hope you can help or offer some advice. Even if oyu have some idea or theory's to what this is I would be very grateful!!!

Basically I noticed a red lump above my bunny's left lip and then after examining him I found another at the bottom rear of his left ear, two directly above his nose and a few around his testicles.

I have noticed a few more red spots or lumps appear around his testicles within 24 hours.

I have taken him to his usual vets and they have never seen this before and are unsure what it actually is, this is why I've come here to see if anyone else has experienced this or has any idea what it is or could be.

The red lumps are hard and crusty feeling.

 
ignore my previous post - I'm imagining things.

I'm not familiar with whats ailing your bun but I'm sure others will have ideas. I think you'll need to see a vet in all likelihood. Lots of luck

I'ma throw a wild guess out - could it be a papilloma? Is your vet rabbit savvy? I assume an exotic vet should be able to tell you what it is. Hopefully others on here may know though :)

Yep, usually a course of Penicillin injections spread over 3+ weeks.

Solverz, if the Rabbit is a Stud Buck you should no longer use him as such as he will pass the condition on to the Doe and her to any Kits she carries.
 
Thank you for giving me some insight Joey&boo, Graciee and InspectorMorse.

So you think it is Rabbit Syphillis, I will mention it to my vet when they open tomorrow morning.
When I took him there the other day they did not know what it could be :(

Hopefully they will be able to treat him if it is rabbit syphillis!

I assume stud Buck means his used for breeding? If this is the case no he is not a stud Buck and lives individually.

Also my vet is a silver standard according to RWAF.

Can't add any advice, but sending all good wishes for your bunny, hope the vet can get treatment going.

It looks like Treponematosis to me, yes. Glad he is not a Stud Buck x
 
Hi all, it has all cleared up now. Turns out it was a reaction to the myxomatosis vaccine.
