  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Penelope injured leg :(

I'm really sorry to read about Penelope's leg. [emoji17] I really hope that, as people have suggested, that it's just a minor sprain or knock.

It's horrible having to wait until you can get them properly assessed by a vet. But in the meantime, I would take positives from the fact she's still eating ok and able to put a bit of weight on it.

Eating and bearing weight sound positive. Sending vibes for good news and more improvement.

Just from the way she is positioning her front legs. I am wondering if she may actually have hurt her back.

Hopefully being confined and the Metacam will be helping a lot and I hope that all will go well for her tomorrow

I'm wondering that too :( she seems to be laying splooted a lot, but not wanting to move too much :( I'm just hoping it's something we can fix :(

Thanks everyone :)

Preparing for tomorrow, gunna be so tricky, Evelyn has to come with, plus I'm taking Apricot too, gunna be a challenge! Feel like I'm preparing for a trip, not just going to the vets, life's weird rn [emoji38]

Penelope is still eating, and moving about, I'm just praying there's something we can do for her :(
