Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Vibes for Maple

Hopefully it’s just something minor and treatable, it doesn’t take much for them to stop eating sometimes :/
Is she at Anton?

Oh Loobers, I'm so sorry to read this [emoji17]

Please try and hold onto the fact that you've acted very quickly and she's in extremely good hands at the moment so you've given her absolutely the best chance to get through this.

Millions of vibes for Maple and hugs for you xx

I have an update

Partial blockage on X-ray, suspect food and fur mass which is breaking down. Bloating is going down and glucose is dropping. They are happy to administer gut meds and she is on fluid and pain relief. If any bun can get through this it’s Syrup. I was surprised they think fur as I only ever see her groom her dewlap.

I’m glad that the bloating is going down and blood glucose is dropping, fingers crossed it passes through soon xx

Phew, it's sounding a lot more positive now and I hope the improvements continue. Does she groom Dennis?

Omi I don't think grooming Dennis is in Maples repetoire.

I'm so pleased to hear her results are getting better xx

I hope so. I didn’t dare ask what the glucose currently is in case they said 27 or something. Unfortunately she never grooms Dennis. He has to be groomed by us. I order dry forage from quite a popular supplier and sometimes that can have things in like small stones that I have to sift out and safety check. But if it was something like that they would see it on the X-ray wouldn’t they

She would be insulted that anyone would assume she would!

I need a drink to calm me nerves. Scotch on the rocks with no ice

I reckon. There are some causes of blockage you can protect against as a bunny parent but a lot that you can't. FHB has had a bunny who needed blockage surgery if thats any reassurance. Quite often its poop - you can't stop rabbits eating their own poop xx

Just catching up, thank goodness shes going in the right direction, sending loads more vibes for your beautiful girl xxx gorgeous photos too xx

awwww, such gorgeous photos. They look so elegant lounging - even Denny boy somehow

He looks very comfy these days. I feel very lost without the bunnies today and being off work. Just sat in the empty bunny room staring into the sh!t abyss my life would be without em. I just done big clean out and can’t find anything of concern. Poops all pass the inspection
