  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Panacur paste v panacur liquid

Jemima

Alpha Buck
I have been reading some old threads about panacur liquid which says the dose is 0.2ml/kg so 2kg Marley would need 0.4ml daily.
Does that therefore mean that I can get 250 doses from each 100ml bottle or are my maths wrong? That seems a lot cheaper than the paste.

He has already had a 28 day course of panacur paste with no improvement of his head tilt and the vet said it would do not harm to continue for another month so just looking at the options.

I always use the Panacur 10% Liquid giving a dose of 0.2ml/kg/day for 28 days

Yes, it is a lot cheaper and it is also easier to get an accurate weight related dose :)

It is just that the Liquid is not licensed for Rabbits. This does not mean it is unsafe. It has exactly the same active ingredient in it (Fenbendazole) as the paste.

Yep agreed! It's way easier, I hate the paste [emoji38]
