  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Clementine, stasis :(

Big hugs for you, I hope Clementine's doing better now.

You know I've been thinking about this, my Vet would do an xray, blood glucose and physical check, before giving gut motility drugs.. Any non exotic would just dispense them though without checking. And that's all I could maybe see now.. So maybe its worth just doing..
Yes, I think about this too. I might not keep the drugs in but it is something I consider when thinking about taking them to the non-specialist vets.

I hope that Clementine will start producing more poo soon. Hopefully the fluids and the Veg will get things moving.

Could this be triggered by some arthritic pain ? Not sure if she has some arthritis after the extensive hip surgery she had a few years ago ?

I'm with you on holding off on prokinetics unless you are certain there is no obstruction. Especially not Metoclopramide

I'm not too sure tbh, she does have arthritis, trinity vets said that from her xrays, she does okay atm though, I think if she gets older she'll be on loxicom daily.. The other issue is the excess weight she carries around, that won't help things - but I just cannot get her to shift the weight, we've honestly tried everything. Idk why she's so overweight. My other three aren't at all :S and it's not like Clementine gets different care.. She actually gets less treats, the white buns get a few a day [emoji38] Clementine and Atticus get just hay and Atticus gets special pellets, and Clementine gets oxbow urinary support treats.. So I don't get it tbh!

I think she's ingested fur tbh, there's been more poops and some strung together.

Thanks everyone for the vibes, she's doing a lot better now, there's been lots of poops but they're small, had one lot come out that were strung together, she's much more springy and she's more enthusiastic about food.. Not seen much hay either though still.

Sending Clementine more vibes for continued improvement. I see strung together poo with my lionhead . I groom her lots yet she still manages to ingest some. Most of the time it passes without incident. It can be such a mystery if some things are cause or symtom of stasis-pain, not drinking or eating, ingesting fur, gas.
Glad she had you and Michael to notice she was not herself and act quictly to give her care and get her more tempting veggies.

Sorry for lack of updates, it's just a lot rn with everything else.

Clementine seems much more herself now, she's excited about food again which is great, still needs to start eating hay properly, but at least she's eating the veg etc. There's been more poops but they're still small and dark, but again better than nothing :) hopefully a few days of meds and she'll be okay. Really hoping anyway, Clementine has had episodes like this that last weeks in the past, really hoping it's not going to be one of those.

That's a pleaseing positive update Graciee. It's hard work for you juggling motherhood, relationships, maintaining a home and being an excellent bunny momma. I'm pleased Clementine is improving - and hopefully she will continue in her own way, to be back to her familiar self.
Topping up the vibes for Clementine. xx

We have some golden ish poops! And the size has improved :D not enough, but there's more hay munchies happening :D
