  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Phillip’s off to the vets

Just got out of work to see a ton of missed calls and text from my husband. Phillip has started non stop sneezing and he’s had to wipe his nose as lots of white mucus is coming out. I’m guessing snuffles? Phillip’s still eating and running around.

Just hope they can treat him, feel like this poor bunny can’t catch a break :(

Poor lad  It sounds as though he has an URTI. It's good news that he is still bright within himself and eating. I hope all goes well at the Vets xx

Awww Phillip - i hope the vets get your snotty nose sorted out quickly. In the meantime better out than in & good to hear he is still bright & happy

Just got him back. Nothing up his nose, chest clear and slight spurs on teeth. Got antibiotics and gut medicine as he’s a nightmare for stasis on antibiotics. Fingers crossed that solves the problem...

Has anyone been described Tagamet syrup for rabbits before? Apparently it’s instead of ranitidine

Hoping Philip is soon better. Never heard of that medicine! Jane will know!

Yes I am hoping Jane sees!
A bit reluctant to give it unless anyone knows anything/has previously given it.

We didn't today as got the earliest emergency appointment our local vet had, but if he's not any better when he finishes his antibiotics or gets any worse then I'll be up to Andover asap!
