Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Fatty lump?

Nicole Mok

Young Bun
On Monday, I can feel there is a lump near my rabbits front leg. He is a 8.5 years old male neutered rabbit.

The lump is not right on the leg, just inside the fatty bit behind his front leg. Not sure if it should be called Lipomas? It's not stuck in one place, can be moved. Cannot be seen from outside, can only feel it by touching him.

The size is like two half thumbs.Yesterday, I can feel another small one next to the first one, movable as well.

Apart from this, he acts normally. Still runs, jumps, eats and drinks as usual. Doesn't seem the lump has bothered him at all.

Appointment has been made with the vet next Tue for checking.

Anyone has experienced like this on your bunny? What type of lump is this? What is the treatment?

I do concern about if he needs to get anesthesia due to his age..

Any comments wouild be great.

Nicole

I haven't had experience of this, but I would imagine that your vet would do a fine needle aspiration and send it off for histology to establish the nature of the lump. Once he knows what it is, that will inform the choices for treatment.

Sending him lots of vibes and I hope that the vet consultation goes well.

Thank you Omi ! That's what I guess so too. Really hope it's something easy to treat.

Could also be abscesses or cysts.
A fine needle aspiration would be useful, then you will know what you are dealing with and take it from there.
I hope all goes well at the vet appointment.

Thank you Shimmer. Feels like it's a long wait for the appointment to come next Tues...
