  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Potential broken leg ***Update post #27***

Thanks everyone.

She's doing really well considering her predicament.

I noticed yesterday she wasn't able to use her left paw (broken one) to clean her face, so her left eye was gunky. I cleaned it up for her. I also noticed every time she tried to hop forward she would fall over.

Today, I watched her clean her face with both paws. She also is hopping without tripping or falling. She is a little slower than normal but tbh she's slowed right down these last 6 months anyway so it's hard to tell.

I'm really impressed with how much improvement I've seen overnight.

She's also eating like a trooper. Fighting the medication but that's nothing new!

She's also learning how to squeeze into small spaces with it. She likes her beer boxes and finds a way to slide right inside, a tight fit but she has always loved doing it. Yesterday she didn't have a chance, kept struggling to get in. Today I found her napping in there

I know they're stoic animals but I'm surprised by how quickly she's showing improvement.

We have a check up next Friday to see how she's coping but early signs look good I think!

Wow. She's doing really well isn't she. Brave girlie

I just wanted to provide an update to all the kind people who helped me through this. Bluebell is doing fantastic - you can hardly tell to look at her that she ever had a broken elbow. I just wanted to share something positive rather than always coming on here to ask questions like I normally do
